The camera might miss the queue, or be filming its tail — so a slow crossing can look quiet here.

What to expect

This is the crossing the Serbian summer coast exodus funnels through. It is quiet most of the year and then backs up hard on July and August weekends, worst southbound (leaving Serbia) early on Saturday mornings and northbound on Sunday evenings at the end of a holiday week. The approach is a two-lane mountain road, so a queue at the barrier stretches back further than the wait time suggests.

TipJabuka–Ranče (via Pljevlja) and Špiljani–Dračenovac (via Novi Pazar) are the usual alternates when Gostun is jammed; both are slower roads, so they only pay off when the queue here is genuinely long.
